Practice without pressure
Many people understand English well but get stuck when they need to speak. Regular speaking practice helps, but a patient partner can be hard to find. An AI voice tool can ask you questions and wait for your answer, as many times as you like.
- Open an AI app that lets you talk out loud. In the Gemini app, this is called Gemini Live.
- Say or paste the prompt below.
- Answer each question in your own words. It is fine to make mistakes.
- Repeat the better sentence it suggests, then continue.
AI feedback is not always correct. Treat this as extra speaking practice, not a test or a promise of fluency. Do not share private details, such as your address or bank information.
The practice prompt
Start the voice conversation, then say this prompt or paste it as your first message.
Be my friendly English conversation partner. Ask me one everyday question at a time and wait for my answer. After I finish, suggest one useful correction and a more natural way to say my sentence. Ask me to repeat it before you move on. Speak slowly. If I get stuck, explain briefly in Hindi, then return to English. Start by asking about my day.
You can replace “Hindi” with any language you are comfortable in.
Practise for something specific
Replace the last sentence of the prompt with one of these.
Ask me common job interview questions for a [JOB ROLE] role, one at a time. After each answer, suggest a clearer and more confident way to say it.
Pretend we are on a short work call about [TOPIC]. Ask me questions a colleague might ask, and help me give short, polite answers.
Get more from each session
- Keep it short. Five minutes a day is a good start.
- Speak in full sentences. Try not to answer with just one word.
- Ask it to slow down. Say “Please speak more slowly” at any time.
- Write down new phrases. Keep a short list of useful sentences you learn.
If something goes wrong
The AI talks too fast or interrupts me.
Say “Please speak slowly and wait until I finish.” You can also pause or restart the conversation.
I don't have Gemini Live.
Any AI app with a voice conversation mode can work. You can also type in a text chat, but speaking out loud gives better practice.
Will this make me fluent?
It gives you regular, low-pressure practice. Fluency takes time, and real conversations with people are still important.
